1. Site of building known as "Hazel Dell". First built in the 1880's as the home of early settlers Hodgson and Sutherland.
    Later it became a guest house run by the Hayes and Gilmour families.
    Then became a became church camp run by the Uniting Church which closed in 1997.
    In 2002, residential property.
  2. Site of Salvation Army Boys Home No. 1 established in 1897. Originally setup in response to a Government request for religious groups to open homes to replace reformatories and provide help and guidance to youths (younger boys were catered for at the No 2 home - see below).
    This function ceased in 1987 and since then the buildings have operated as a job training centre and an alcohol rehabilitation centre.
    In 2002, still owned by the Salvation Army but now known as The Basin Farm.

  5. Building first built and used to cater for the special needs of younger boys from the Salvation Army Boys Home No. 2. A fire in 1972 destroyed about half the buildings.
    In 1980, the remaining buildings and surrounding land were amalgamated with The Basin Primary School.
  6. The Basin State School original site established in 1880. The school closed in 1899 due to low enrolments but the building was moved and reopened in 1901 near the current site - see below.
    In 2002, residential land.
  7. The Basin State School second site. The school building was originally located in Doongalla Road but moved to this location in 1901 when the Doongalla Road site was closed due to low enrolments - see above.
    This building was replaced with another one in 1925.
  8. The Basin Primary School current site.
  9. Site of Methodist Church from 1903-1958. Building shifted to Boronia in 1958.
    Land later purchased by the Education Dept. and added to The Basin Primary School.
  10. Original site of St. Mary's Church of England built in 1939.
    In 1948, the building was moved to a new site in Mountain Highway. In 2002, the original Church site is residential land.
    The Mountain Highway site closed in 1989 due to a fall in attendance and was sold to the Melbourne Vinayagar Hindu Sangam who erected a Hindu temple on the site.
